Kerry Appeals to Haitian Immigrants in French

ORLANDO, Fla. (Reuters) - Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry, condemned by some Republicans as "French looking," promised on Monday to help Haitian immigrants in Florida, saying: "Je vais aider les Haitiens."
The Massachusetts senator, who has French relatives and is fluent in the language, has rarely spoken it in public on the campaign trail.

His political adversaries have tried to capitalize on anti-French sentiment created by Paris' staunch opposition to the Iraq war and to portray Kerry as aloof and opposed to U.S. interests.

But in Florida, a critical battleground state in the Nov. 2 presidential election where many many Haitian immigrants have settled, Kerry sought to communicate directly with them by lapsing ever so briefly into French.

His opponent, Republican President Bush, the former governor of Texas, often sprinkles Spanish phrases into his speeches to Hispanic audiences.

One of the last times Kerry spoke French publicly was at a rally in Louisiana in March when he proclaimed: "Laissez les bon temps rouler!" ("Let the good times roll!").

Laissez les bon temps rouler!, indeed, John Kerry. Why is it he wants to snuggle with the French so damn badly? Everyone knows they were complicit with Saddam Hussein, through the Oil-For-Food rape, against the United States. They were paid for their veto in the United Nations.

Kerry doesn't seem to mind the missiles being launched at American helicopters were manufactured in France for Saddam Hussein and shipped to Iraq after the war began.

This man is dangerous. Extremely dangerous.

NEW YORK — In the wake of a FOX News Channel Sept. 19 news documentary, Breaking Point: "United Nations Blood Money", and a story that first appeared on FOXNews.com on Sept. 17, FOX News received a written statement from the Hayel Saeed Anam Group on Oct. 8.

In the statement, the company states that Abdul Rahman Hayel Saeed, a corporate director, had a business relationship with Ahmed Idris Nasruddin dating back to 1982. But the relationship ended acrimoniously in 1984, and there have been no business dealings between the parties for 20 years.

Hayel Saeed Anam Group further states that while there was a valid power of attorney given by Saeed to Nasruddin in 1982, it merely authorized him "to sign in the name of the principal [Saeed] acting as founding partner, the public deed of establishment of the Association Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism for the Arab Gulf States and Switzerland [later re-named MIGA]." Saeed says that he was unaware that MIGA had in fact ever been established.

The company states that this was not a continuing power of attorney to Nasruddin and that any subsequent use by Nasruddin was not valid or authorized.

The statement also claims that the participation in the Oil-for-Food program of Pacific Interlink, a Hayel Saeed Anam subsidiary, was above board, and Pacific Interlink denies being involved in any kick back payments to Iraq.
